[NEWS] JUNG SO MIN FROM BNTNEWS

“Hello!”
This refreshing voice of greeting was heard in the midst of preparation for a photo-taking session in the noisy studio. Those who were busy working earlier turned to the direction of this voice. Dressed to match the season of spring is Jung So Min with a happy smile, using a clear voice greeting each and everyone.
Meeting JSM for the first time she really seems thinner and smaller, it gives this impression with her slender arms and thin shoulder. Quite different as with Hung Mo Ne in TV drama “Bad Guy”, Oh Ha Ni in “Playful Kiss” and the strong image in the current drama “Standby”. Even to the extent of being suspicious of whether the person seen on TV is the same person before me.
Such a JSM is very suitable to act as the heroine in a romantic movie. While being interviewed during the photo-taking session, JSM look like the heroine, Rachel McAdams in the romantic movie “The Notebook”. Up till now still having not acted in movies before, her bright smiles seems to reveal that she is looking forward to it.
“Actually, all along I have wished to try acting in movies like “The Notebook”. Being deeply impressed with acting it’s also because of after having seen this movie. Movies like “Romeo and Juliet” are also very good but I don’t like tragic ending stories; prefer more of those that have a happy ending from the beginning.” Talking about movies, JSM became more talkative. So we know that she’s a movie fanatic, she like stage drama and TV drama very much too. During the photo-taking breaks, she’d also find time to discuss about the process and details of the sitcom filming. When asked why she is this serious, she said “Or else I’d be very nervous” in a low tone voice.
“In fact, before getting into the new role, I couldn’t eat properly. I used all that I know to experience it, must do a lot of preparation before the filming and the psychological pressure is also great. When "Standby” got started I can’t take it easy and there are many areas I’m not satisfied with, but will slowly work hard to get used to the role so I decided not to get too anxious and give myself too much pressure”.
Taking the sitcom “Standby” that’s currently acting on, she immediately get into thinking of what kind of a role is it, whether it has any similarities with herself. Her mother was from a farming village, growing up in a simple family, these helps JSM into acting the “tough girl” a great deal. Actually, JSM in her daily living also treat money and people carefully and meticulously, of course sometimes she would seem to be stingy to others but she’s very thrifty.
For often being taken to compare with Park Hae Mi and Hwang Chan Sung of “High Kick!”, JSM instead feel thankful. “In foreign sitcoms even neighbours look very natural and seem very realistic. Because of such comfortable acting skill I want to think of how role setting is done, how to act such that it will seem realistic. So it’s entirely different from others, to create a brand new character is very hard. I am very thankful to them (Park and Hwang), watching their performing appeal is very useful…” (laugh) So Min (SB), Oh Ha Ni (PK) and Hung Mo Ne (BG) in all three projects’ characters, JSM put her actual character into the drama roles which show real natural acting.
The journalist made a sudden change of subject to the new sitcom’s love triangle with a question: Innocent Siwan and cunning Li Ki Woo, which do you choose? She answered naturally “In every woman’s heart would think that the combination of these two characters is the most ideal.“ In return she asked, “It’s because of this that’s how there’s a love triangle isn’t it?” What she said isn’t unreasonable. “Even the script-writer said; need to watch the development further then to choose later. So honestly, I also don’t know how it will be, whether with Ki Wo sunbae or Siwan I’d feel very thankful.”
Recently, JSM’s weight loss has become a hot topic, compare to her earlier round face unknowingly there’s a V line, an already slim figure became even slimmer. Asked what her secret is, she replied “Most importantly is determination. I want to show an image that’s different from “PK” days and not just simply want to become more beautiful. I don’t want to just be a beautiful actress; even normally I don’t deliberately care about how to maintain in order to make myself more beautiful. I want to become an actress that’s able to take on any role competently. Like the So Min in “SB”, I am very pleased with it.”
Although she doesn’t have the desire to become more beautiful but JSM has great fashion sense. Since young she doesn’t like and will not wear what was given by her mother. After debut she can follow her own fashion sense to shop. That’s why those outfits in TV dramas mostly are her choice and personal stuff. Doesn’t this depress the stylist? Instead both of them happily exchange fashion style ideas.
“When “BG” was filmed in Myeong-dong it was just right for shopping but when “PK” was shot, there wasn’t enough time for shopping, it became shopping online mostly. If dresses I like are too expensive then it’s unnecessary to possess. Recently have been busy filming, there’s no time to shop.”
As time goes by, what kind of actor would you like to be remembered as? Facing such a question, she didn’t hide her ambition for her goal and dream, “Able to become an actress with my own distinctiveness will be good. If there is an opportunity I hope to be able to let more people understand our country’s contribution and also to have the ambition to gain more love and support from the audience. Thinking about this, I would want to work harder.”
